Landscape Evapotranspiration Estimation Using Remotely Sensed Data for Operational Applications in Agriculture and Hydrology
نویسنده
چکیده
Evapotranspiration (ET) is an important component of the hydrologic budget because it expresses the exchange of mass and energy between the soil-water-vegetation system and the atmosphere. Prevailing weather conditions influence potential or reference ET through variables such as radiation, temperature, wind, and relativity humidity. In addition to these weather variables, actual ET (ETa) is also affected by land cover type and condition and soil moisture. ETa’s dependence on land cover and soil moisture, and its direct relationship with carbon dioxide assimilation in plants, makes it an important variable to monitor and estimate crop yield and biomass for decision makers interested in food security, grain markets, water allocation and carbon sequestration.

Spatiotemporal Estimation of PM2.5 Concentration Using Remotely Sensed Data, Machine Learning, and Optimization Algorithms
PM 2.5 (particles <2.5 μm in aerodynamic diameter) can be measured by ground station data in urban areas, but the number of these stations and their geographical coverage is limited. Therefore, these data are not adequate for calculating concentrations of Pm2.5 over a large urban area. This study aims to use Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD) satellite images and meteorological data from 2014 to 2017 ...
متن کاملIrrigation Scheduling Using Remote Sensing Data Assimilation Approach
Remote sensing and crop growth models have enhanced our ability to understand soil water balance in irrigated agriculture. However, limited efforts have been made to adopt data assimilation methodologies in these linked models that use stochastic parameter estimation with genetic algorithm (GA) to improve irrigation scheduling. In this study, an innovative irrigation scheduling technique, based...
متن کاملA Review of Current Methodologies for Regional Evapotranspiration Estimation from Remotely Sensed Data
An overview of the commonly applied evapotranspiration (ET) models using remotely sensed data is given to provide insight into the estimation of ET on a regional scale from satellite data. Generally, these models vary greatly in inputs, main assumptions and accuracy of results, etc. Besides the generally used remotely sensed multi-spectral data from visible to thermal infrared bands, most remot...
متن کاملEvapotranspiration Estimation with Remote Sensing and Various Surface Energy Balance Algorithms—A Review
With the advent of new satellite technology, the radiative energy exchanges between Sun, Earth, and space may now be quantified accurately. Nevertheless, much less is known about the magnitude of the energy flows within the climate system and at the Earth’s surface, which cannot be directly measured by satellites. This review surveys the basic theories, observational methods, and different surf...
متن کاملA methodology for estimation of surface evapotranspiration over large areas using remote sensing observations
We propose a simple scheme to estimate surface evaporation over large heterogeneous areas using remote sensing observations. Our approach is based on a relationship between easily measured surface parameters (e.g. radiometric surface temperature) and a surrogate for effective surface resistance. Preliminary results, using remotely sensed data sets from AVHRR NOAA-14 over the Southern Great Plai...
